JOHN MITCHELS NOTES
RACE NIGHT.
The John Mitchels Hurling and Football Club will host a race-night at the Clubhouse on Saturday August 11th 2012. This will be one of our major fundraisers for the year. The club is currently seeking sponsorship for each of the 11 races at a cost of €200 per race. All monies raised will be used to finance juvenile activities at the club. We at John Mitchels would very much appreciate your consideration of race sponsorship.

Mid Kerry 0-10
The team played Mid Kerry in the opening round of the County Championship on Tuesday last, the game was played in dreadful weather conditions with heavy downpours throughout the match. Mid Kerry were first on the scoreboard with a point from play, we then settled and had points from Frank O'Donnell, Darragh O'Neill and Shane O'Connor, Mid Kerry had a point from play and Mitchels replied with a point from the boot of Adam Leahy. Mid Kerry then scored a pointed free which was answered by Niall Sheehy with a fine point from play. Mid Kerry scored a point from play and one from the dead ball to draw level, and with the first half coming to a close Sean Moloney scored a point to leave the half time score line reading John Mitchels 0-6; Mid Kerry 0-5. Once again Mid Kerry were first on the score board in the second half with two points, one from play and one from a free, we replied with two points from Niall Sheehy. Over the next ten minutes Mid Kerry scored three points from frees without reply to give them a two point advantage, Mitchels then took back control of the match, first we had a superb point from the left boot of Jake Moran, this was followed by points from Niall Sheehy and Adam Leahy and with 31 minutes gone on the clock Niall Sheehy once again scored a point from a free to leave the final score John Mitchels 0-12; Mid Kerry 0-10. The John Mitchels team and scorers were Peter Murphy, Akeem Molloy, Jack Cahalane, Cian Sheridan, Gary Murphy, Shane O'Connor (0-1), Frank O'Donnell (0-1), Jake Moran (0-1), Michael Wrenn, Jonathan O'Halloran, Niall Sheehy (0-5(2 f)), Jared O'Sullivan, Sean Moloney (0-1), Darragh O'Neill (0-1), Adam Leahy (0-2), Josh O'Reilly, Michael O'Donovan, Keith Madden, James Duggan, Cein Casey, Gary Roche, Liam Gannon, Ben O'Neill, Wayne Duggan, Argjent Kastrati. We have received a bye in round three, the draw for the quarter finals will be made shortly. Well done to the team and to the management Clive, Ger Dan, Frank, Humphrey and Sean.
Minor Coiste Trali League
We play Kerins O'Rahillys in the final time and venue TBC.
U-16 LADIES
The team played Austin Stacks on Monday last 23rd July, match result in next week's notes. Training continues on Friday from 6.15 pm.
U12 Girls
The girls played Dingle last Thursday evening & even though we came out on the wrong side of the result we have qualified for the Division 3 semi-final which is due to be played this Thursday evening the 26th of July .The venue, time & opponents will be known this week & we will be advising the girls at training on Tuesday evening & by teamer later in the week & any support is more than welcome. The girls that played last week were as follows, Blaithnaid Cotter,Alanna Dennehy,Isabel Horgan, Aoife Kelliher, Bernice O Shea,Maria Daly,Jamie Finnegan, Jade Powell, Caitlin O Sullivan, Katie Laucher,Amy Foley,Lauren Houlihan,Rachel Kilgallen, Grace Myers,Emma Carmody,Becky Fitzgerald &Claire O Connor. Training continues every Wednesday at Champers from 5.30pm - 6.30pm - this is subject to us having a mid-week game. We will be sending out TEAMERS to everyone that we have on our list but if you know any girls that want to play U12 football this year they are more than welcome. All you have to do is to come down to a training session & make yourself known to any of the mentors or club officials. The mentors involved looking after the girls this year are Rory Kilgallen, Cathy Carmody,Mike O Shea & Dan O' Connor.

The team were defeated when they travelled to Castlegregory on Monday last, we were short some players on the night but the lads who travelled put in 110%. The team included Dillon O'Connor, Aaron Pitman, Patrick Kearney, Eoin Barden, Ryan Ward, Conor Hurley, Cormac Herlihy, Gavin O'Brien, Kevin Foley, Michael Kelleher, Michael Walsh, Mark Ryle, Jonathan Downey, Lee Browne, Eoin Breen, James Smullen and Dennis Moriarty. Training continues on Friday evenings.
U-13
The team match against Kerins O'Rahilly's on Sunday last was postponed.
U-12
The team took part in the Munster Blitz held in Fitzgerald Stadium on Tuesday 17th July, in this blitz the team played against Macroom from Cork, Newcastlewest from Limerick and Castleisland Desmonds from Kerry, the team was victorious in all matches and after the football was finished they received a tour of the stadium from Kerry player Kieran O'Leary. The boys who travelled included Shane McCarthy, Kevin Williams, Daniel Molloy, Dara Sheridan, James Sheehan, Michael Kelleher, Ryan Ward, Graham Hudson, Conor Morrison-O'Brien, Craig O'Brien, Padraig White, Ross Sugrue, Dion O'Keeffe, Adam Barrett- Duggan, Tadgh Broderick, James O'Connor, Darrion Hurley, Michael Lacey, Steven Bowler, Dylan O'Brien, Kenny Foran, Sean Gannon, Cian Barden, Dominic Craig, Jack Rogers, Tyreese Flaherty, Cian Canavan, Padraic O'Callaghan, Joshua Fitzgerald and Alex O'Shea. Training continues on Friday evenings from 5 pm.
U-10
The team returned to training on Sunday last under the watchful eyes of Pa and Martin. The team went through the passing skills of the game ending the session with a match. Sean Dillane, Darragh McEvoy, Dylan Duffy, Michael O'Sullivan, Robert Kerins, Darragh Caplis, Jordan Mason, Tamnoy Debnath, Darragh Moriarty and David O'Connor-Fitzgibbon impressed. Training continues on Sunday next from 10.30 to 12.00. New players are welcome.
U-8
The under 8 team trained under the guidance of Mark and Diarmuid. This week the team concentrated on the passing skills of the game finishing the session with a football match.
Paddy McMahon, Darragh Murphy, Rory Clifford, Conor Kerins, Cathal Murphy, Terry Molloy, Jack O'Donoghue, Richard Silins, Cian Jones, Cormac Clifford, Nathan Rogers, Darragh Cunnane and Kian O'Shea impressed the coaches. Refreshments were had by all after the session. Training continues on Sunday next from 10.30 pm to 12.00. New Players are welcome.
U-6
The under 6 team had a fantastic morning at training on Sunday last with John, Benny and Owen at the helm, the boys and girls went through the passing and scoring skills of the game before finishing up with a football match. Cathal Morris, Isaac Jones, Ted Fitzgerald, Rhuari McMahon, Daithi Smullen, James Roche, Isobel Clifford, Nathan Sharma, Elizabeth Slattery, William Sheerin, Daniel O'Connell, Alannah Cunnane, Darragh O'Callaghan, Ava Jane Fitzgerald, Michael Duffy, Sean Corkery, Sam Fitzgerald, Ava Sharma, Ben Cullinane, Sean Og Brosnan, Andrew Kerins, Sadhbh Corkery, Shane O'Sullivan, Pascal Buckley, Mark O'Connor, Darragh O'Shea, Reece Long, Lucie O'Donoghue, Cillian Ginty and Jennifer Slattery were some of the players who attended training. Refreshments were had by all after the session. Training continues next Sunday from 10.30 pm to 12.00. New Players are welcome.
